The morning is as assured as the tides and just as unstoppable. You needed a few more hours of blackness. Not to sleep of course, but to prepare, to gather your thoughts, re-organize, prioritize and pack them back in again. But already you could see the threat that is those within the Trancy manor, and the chaos planning to be unleashed at his party later that night.

“Miss, you okay in there? We’re here.”

Your gaze moved up from where it had lazily been fixated. Turning your head, by seeing the carriage door was being held open by the driver, you realized you were too much in thought to notice it had stopped.

You smiled as the driver helped you down.

“Thank you, Winston. I’m sorry, I’m a little out of it this morning.”

He let out a laugh as he shut the door and leaned against it.

“Well that’s perfectly understandable, considerin’ all the sudden preparations the young Lord’s got you doin’ this morning. It’s a bit unfair if ya ask me.”

Your lips quirked up into a smile.

“Thank you for taking me here, I know it's not on our itinerary, but it's necessary.”

Crossing his arms, he chuckled.

“After the kindness you've shown me, it's the least I could do. My lil’ Maggie was as happy as ever when I came home early that day. I'll be waiting for ya, miss.”

Nodding your head, you stole a glance at the building in front of you.

“I won't be long.”

With one last smile, you took a few steps forward to the door. Raising your hand, twice you tapped the door with your knuckles.

*knock* *knock*

You could make out the sound of shuffling followed by footsteps heading to the door beyond it. Lowering your hand, you took a deep breath. You had to mentally prepare yourself for who you were about to face.

A click was heard, signaling the door unlocking. When it swung open enough for the person to see your face, a gasp came followed by the door swinging all the way open. Her eyes were filled with surprise.

“Y/N?”

You smiled in response.

“Hello, Ayani. May I have a moment of your time?”

Her face lit up and she quickly moved aside, bowing her head.

“Yes, of course. Please, come in.”

You bowed your head in return and stepped inside. As she closed the door, you lowered your voice in case of Prince Soma hearing your arrival.

“I apologize for arriving unannounced, but I have an important matter to discuss with you.”

She stepped in front of you, hands folded in front of her.

“Do you need the presence of my young Prince Soma as well?”

Your eyes flickered upstairs where your ears picked up the faint sound of Soma snoring in his room.

“I prefer speaking only with you at the moment. If you wish, you can fill him in when he wakes up.”

You turned your head to her as she began leading you down the hall.

“It’s about Ciel, from what Sebastian’s told me, he’s already informed you about his condition.”

“He has”, she replied as she stopped in front of a room within the hall and opened the door.

She held it open for you, allowing you to enter first.

“He also told us of his absent memory of you. I am terribly sorry, I can’t imagine what it must feel like.”

You scanned the room as she talked. The kitchen was still in good shape, so that was good.

“Recently, I’ve managed to get rehired as his maid. He still has no memory of me from last year, however. But this isn’t why I came to you today.”

She came around, a slight worry on her face.

“Is something wrong? Has anything happened?”

Your eyes narrowed as they moved down.

“Have you yet received an invitation...from an Earl of Trancy?”

“Sebastian!”

Ciel was pacing back and forth like a caged tiger, growing more and more impatient with every second that passed. His head turned when Sebastian came around the corner.

“Where is Y/N? At this rate, we’ll be late.”

Sebastian smiled reassuringly.

“I’m sure she’ll be back momentarily, sir. She’s a very capable maid.”

Ciel huffed, placing his hands on his hips.

“Not capable enough. If she were like you, it would be a bit easier.”

Sebastian’s eyes narrowed, a small chuckle coming from his lips.

“Yes, if only.”

When Ciel made out the sound of horses chaffing from outside, he turned his attention to the window beside him. The moment he saw you climbing out of the carriage, he moved away from the window and opened the front door while mumbling under his breath.

You smiled as Winston closed the door behind you.

“Thank you once again, Winston. I hope I didn’t cause you any trouble?”

He waved a hand at your statement and with a crooked smile, nodded his head over to where Ciel was running down the outside stairs.

“As sweet as that is miss, it looks like you got your own trouble to worry about.”

Without even turning your head, you could hear his feet pounding down the stairs and onto the grass. You smiled faintly.

“You should hurry on home Winston, I’ll take care of the driving now.”

His face crinkled as a smile broke across it.

“As you wish, miss.”

With a tilt of the hat to you and to Ciel as he reached you, he walked away from the carriage as the servants came up to it and loaded up on the driver’s seat. Your sight moved to Ciel, who had a hand on his hip, staring up at you.

“Where were you? We need to leave now.”

You covered your mouth as a giggle slipped passed your lips and put a palm to his cheek.

“I know full well how much time we have, Ciel. Shall we depart?”

He sighed, closing his eyes as he grabbed my hand.

“You finished your errands, yes?”

You smiled sweetly.

“Of course. I have yours, along with the servants’ costumes for tonight’s ball.”

He rose an eyebrow as you turned around and opened the carriage door for him.

“And what of yours?”

You froze instantly, then turned your head with a smile.

“Don’t be silly, Ciel. I’m a mere servant, I couldn’t possibly wear something that could ruin my master’s image of me.”

‘That and I really don’t want to wear a costume’

“Oh, come on, Y/N!”

Your gaze flickered to the servants above you who were staring down in disbelief. Bard scoffed as he momentarily pulled the cigar from his lips to speak.

“You just got here, you gotta join in on the fun. We’re goin’ do it!”

Your gaze hardened at him while Ciel climbed into the carriage, your annoyance with the idea growing. However, a sudden idea formed in your head and a smirk crossed your lips.

“Oh, all right. If you insist.”

You turned around just as Sebastian was about to step inside the carriage and he stopped once he noticed the mischievous look in your eye.

“As long as Sebastian dresses up with us, of course.”

His eyes instantly narrowed.

“How generous, but I--”

“That sounds like an excellent idea, Y/N.”

Ciel popped his head out, a sly smile now on his face.

“Sebastian, you will dress up with the rest of the servants.”

With that, his head disappeared back into the carriage.

Sebastian’s eyebrow twitched.

“Master, it is unnecessary for me to--”

His finger shot out of the darkness, pointing straight at his face.

“And that’s an order.”

You held back a laugh when you noticed the vein popping out of Sebastian’s neck.  He stared you down as he loaded the carriage. You shut the door and moved to jump up on the driver’s seat with the servants.

Tonight was definitely going to be interesting.
Hi~ Just a reminder in case you're confused, that I genderbent Agni in here as a girl named Ayani to better fit my story. So, what should your costume be?

How about Black swan for reader-chan and a raven costume for Sebastian? That way they can match up! ^_^
